Park your car on Woodward or Merrill Plaisance and meander past Lake Frances, the brand new Tennis & Pickle Ball courts and
Detroit Mounted Police Stables to the Handball courts. Click image above for map.
Though there are not leagues, there are semi-consistent times for games at the courts.
Try Monday, Wednesday or Fridays at 3:30 - 6:30, and Sunday mornings at 9:30.

From 1950 to 1972 the 3 Wall Nationals were held at Palmer Park.
In the mid 70s the courts fell on hard times, falling prey to neglect and disrepair. In 2018 a small but determined group of handballers began a revival.
Now you can be part of history when you roll 'em out
at these 4 - 22' x 40' courts.

Back in its heyday from 1951 to 1972, Palmer Park was the place for handball, hosting the 3 Wall Nationals. These tournaments lasted a week, with players coming from all over the country. Herskowitz, Decater, the Obert brothers, August, Russo and Hofflander car-pooled from New York. Paul Haber drank his way to the Palmer Park - and to championships. Jimmy Jacobs represented the best of Los Angeles. And hometown favorites such as Golden, Scopis, Rott and so many more graced these courts.
